Why voters leave the rolls
Statewide removals by reason, from the State Board's monthly reports, January 2010 to September 2026.
The reports count 250,024 removals from October 2025 to September 2026. The biggest groups: Moved to another county (42%), Address confirmation mailings (32%) and Death (17%).
Over time
The charts of removals show the total of the 12 months ending at that month, so one month's batch does not hide the trend. Hover for the figure for that month alone. Each chart has its own scale.

Which voters are removed
Party shares of the removals in the 12 months from October 2025 to September 2026. The last row is the share of all active voters today, for comparison. Different reasons affect different parts of the electorate, so a share above or below the last row says little on its own.

How to read this
- The group names are Skipjack's. "Address confirmation mailings" adds the board's "mail verification (NVRA)" and "confirmation mail" categories, the two whose names refer to mailings. The board's reports do not define its categories.
- The removal figures come from the report's statewide summary table. The inactive and confirmation mailing charts add up the county activity table for the whole state.
Which of the State Board's categories each group includes (as the reports spell them)
- Moved to another county: COUNTY TRANSFER - OUT; COUNTY TRANSFER-OUT
- Address confirmation mailings: MAIL VERIFICATION (NVRA); CONFIRMATION MAIL
- Death: DEATH NOTICE
- Moved out of state: MOVED OUT OF STATE
- Voter request: VOTER REQUEST
- Duplicate registration: DUPLICATE
- Board action and other: BOARD ACTION; OTHER
- Conviction or incompetency: CRIMINAL CONVICTION; MENTAL INCOMPETENCY
