2024 Primary Election
Final turnout. The figures are the State Board's certified canvass reports: ballots cast (whether or not they were counted), the ballots counted, and the certified turnout percentage. The percentage is the board's own: its official turnout sheet's ballots cast over the register that sheet itself prints. Registers moved between eras — the 2018, 2022 and 2024 sheets divide by active registration alone; the 2026 turnout guide's eligible is everyone registered who is not incomplete or cancelled, active and inactive together.
The two mail-in figures above are different certified records. Vote by mail is the mode of voting: the turnout-by-mode report's count of ballots cast by mail. Mail-in ballots received back is the certified mail-in report's envelope count: 396,123 envelopes returned, dispositioned as 393,542 accepted and 2,581 rejected. The report's note covers ballots requested or automatically sent, Federal write-in absentee ballots included — ballots cast versus envelopes returned, so the two figures are not the same measure.
